FAQs
When is the best time to book you?
As soon as possible! Like maybe I’m the second person you call after you pee on the stick? Just kidding, kind of. Most people book at the beginning of their second trimester. This allows you time to save/budget and insures that your due date doesn’t get booked out.
It says you are on call at 38 weeks, but what if I have my baby earlier?
38 weeks to birth is my standard on-call time, but I know that no two births are the same, so if it looks like your baby may come earlier we just simply make some adjustments.
I feel weird about having another human in my birth space, what are your credientials and why should I trust you?
Okay, no one who knows me has ever asked this question but it’s still valid. I’ve attended just under 20 births. I have also completed my doula training. I’ve had 5 very different birth experiences myself. I’m familiar with the process of birth. While my intention is always to provide you with beautiful imagery of your birth, my first priority is actually that you feel safe, supported, and that you have a positive birth experience. This is another reason that I recommend booking ASAP so that you and I have time to establish a relationship before the big day.
What if I give birth in the middle of the night, will you still come?
Absolutely! Babies love to come in the middle of the night— this is why I limit the number of births I book each month and why I’m on call for you 24/7, 7 days a week. This means I don’t turn off my phone or travel outside a 1 hr radius of the hospital in those weeks surrounding your birth.
Do you document Cesareans?
Yes! However it is up to you to communicate with your care provider ahead of time to make sure that they are okay with having me in theatre with you.
Can I meet you before I commit to booking?
Of course! In fact, I would prefer that we meet in person first. This allows you to meet me and make sure that I’m a good fit for your birth team and you’re a good fit for me. Plus, I love an excuse to grab coffee.
